Empowering Biotech Careers through accessible industry knowledge and advice.

What is Reducing Barriers?
Reducing Barriers is an educational initiative created by students for students. Our mission is to address the knowledge barriers between university students in biotechnology and their industry of employment. In doing so, our team work towards developing resources that are accessible and diverse for students to utilize in their career planning. Our resources are based on survey analysis on both biotechnology students at all levels of university experience, as well as input from industry experts, to ensure our projects stay relevant to the needs of our target student cohorts.
Resources

Our 2023 Student Surveys demonstrated key areas that students required more support in terms of guidance for their career in the biotech industry. As a feedback loop, these surveys allow our project to remain relevant and meaningful for our target publics.

Our 2023 Industry Survey delivered meaningful insight into what industry employers look for in future employees. Our findings are accesible for students to allow them some knowledge on what makes them employable.

Our online interviews allows students direct advice on life as an industry professional and insight into a diverse range of pathways into the industry from alumni and other individuals in the biotech field itself.

The digital career roadmap details the broad levels of a career in biotechnology to allow students to understand how to plan their journey and what skills are essential for their goals.
